The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed Nigeria's Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa and Ahmed Abdulfatah, Kwara State Governor.
According to the statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary, on Tuesday, the PDP said that the defection of the trio, came at a time when the nation requires the input of genuine patriots that will save it from an impending decline.
In its statement, “The PDP notes the harassment and intimidation that the duo of Senator Saraki and Governor Ahmed had suffered from the lords in the disintegrating All Progressives Congress (APC) which they helped to build and nurture to win election. Senator Saraki, in particular, has conducted the affairs of the Senate in reflection of the wishes of the silent majority of Nigerians and had emerged a hero of democracy”.
The party said that it believes that the trio will contribute immensely to the new order that engender good governance in our nation. The party promised its returning members of all the rights and privileges available to every member.
PDP called on Nigerians who have the desire to rescue the nation from what it described as "the incompetent administration of President Buhari" to join them ahead if the elections, come 2019
