Nigeria’s Ambassador To South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto Resigns And Decamps To PDP


Ahmed Ibeto, the Nigeria's Ambassador to South Africa has  resigned and decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP)
PDP's Zonal Vice Chairman, for Zone C in Niger State, Yahaya Abdullahi, confirmed the defection to ChannelsTv on Tuesday.
In his words, “Officials have just issued the former Deputy Governor with the membership card of the party. We have caught a lion of Niger State politics, he is not a big fish but a lion"

Ibeto handed his resignation letter at the Ministry of External Affairs. According o reports, he subsequently picked up PDP membership form at his ward in Magama Local Government area, around 3:00 pm, Tuesday.
The party's membership card was presented to him immediately after the registration ceremony, witnessed by lots of loyalists and supporters..
Ahmed Ibeto dumped PDP for the APC few months to the 2015 general elections, after his disagreement with his Boss, Aliyu. Reports said that, he was supposed be compensated with a ministerial slot but his name was said to have been dropped in the dying minute, he was later nominated and appointed as Nigeria's Ambassador to South Africa by President Buhari.
Yahaya Abdullahi said that Ibeto's return to PDP will increase the party's chances in the state, ahead of the 2019 elections. He also ruled out the possibility of automatic tickets for any member of the party. He added that all the members seeking elective positions will go through the processes.
The APC Chairman of the state, Mohammed Imam, said that the party has not been formally informed of the development and would make its position known when it receives an official notification on the issue.
Ahmed Ibeto was the former Deputy Governor of the State.
