A Catholic priest of the Sacred Heart Parish, Obomkpa in Delta State, Reverend Andrew Anah, has been abducted.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the kidnap to Channels Television on Thursday, saying that this is the second time the same priest is being kidnapped.
Mr Anah was kidnapped in 2017 but was later released after an unannounced amount of money was allegedly paid to his abductors.
The circumstances surrounding his recent kidnap is still sketchy but according to Channels Television, some residents may be connected with a kidnap syndicate in Aniocha north to carry out such crimes.
Residents revealed that Obomkpa/Ukwu-Nzu and now Olona Axis of Aniocha North have been notorious for such crimes as that was the same area where the priest was abducted the first time.
It was also reported that the Managing Director of a construction company and the Chairman of the Aniocha north Traditional Rulers’ Committee, Mr Obi Sunday Olisenweokwu, was also abducted around that area.
After much information was gathered,the Police, assured the public that it will do everything to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice and the victim rescued. Since that axis is known as a kidnap area, security ought to be increased in that area, to avoid any more occurrences.
