According to reports, 23 members of the Kwara State House of Assembly have decamped to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The massive defection happened barely 24 hours after Nigeria's Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to PDP.
In a joint letter appended by all the defecting members, Rt, Hon, Ali Ahmad, the speaker said that the members alleged that their move was informed by factionalism of the ruling party at the local level.
The speaker, after reading the letter, appended his signature to the list of those defecting to the PDP, a list which already had his name as one of those leaving the ruling party.
He said, “I am so happy leaving the APC today".
