Reports reaching Adaora's Blog is that the lawmaker representing Kogi West District has been abducted by unknown gunmen in Gwagwalada, a suburb of Abuja, Nigeria.
This was disclosed by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, who represents Bayelsa East, via his Twitter handle.
According to Bruce, he got the information by Dino's brother, Moses Melaye, who said that Dino was kidnapped today's morning after unknown gunmen attacked them on their way to Kogi State.
In Murray-Bruce's tweet:
I have just been informed by Moses Melaye, @dino_melaye’s brother, that Dino has been abducted by unknown persons in a Toyota Sienna that blocked their car and overpowered them on their way to Kogi to answer to Dino’s court case. Lets be on the watch out. Will keep you updated.— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) July 26, 2018
One of Dino Melaye's associates who witnessed the shocking incident, Musa Shuaibu, revealed to reporters that he was kidnapped along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
In his words: “As we speak, his (Melaye’s) whereabouts is unknown. Nigerians must come to his rescue.”
Dino Melaye, was among the fourteen Senators who decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party, on Tuesday.
He is currently facing charges for allegedly aiding criminals, attempted suicide and was billed to appear in court on Thursday.
The police have not confirmed the abduction of the Senator.
