Late rapper XXXTentacion‘s track ‘Sad!’ has topped the US singles chart a week after his death.
The Broward County rapper’s single “Sad!” rose from No. 52 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after he was fatally shot while leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach.
According to Billboard, XXXTentacion whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, is the first artist to top the Hot 100 posthumously in a lead role since The Notorious B.I.G., with “Mo Money Mo Problems,” in 1997.
“Sad!” had previously climbed as high as No. 7 on the Hot 100 at the end of March. It was at that time that XXXTentacion also had the No. 1 album on Billboard’s chart, titled “?”
Both of XXXTentacion’s albums also climbed into Billboard’s top 10 this week. “?” rose from No. 24 to No. 3, and his gold-certified 2017 debut “17” went from No. 60 to No. 7.
A public memorial will be held on Wednesday (June 27) at the Florida Panthers Stadium, for the slain rapper who was shot and killed last Monday in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
